We left at 10am and walked in bright sunshine for most of the path westwards to Lee, arriving at 11.30. The Grampus pub did not open until 12·15 but we waited in the sunshine, ate there then continued into the village of Lee, in a charming steep-sided valley. The weather was very good, sunny and with a strong west wind. The path is quite challenging, undulating with several steep stepped sections between Lee, and . From the latter there is an easy walk into itself. We stayed at Sunny Nook B&B (Beach Rd.), very nice although a longish walk out of Woolacombe along a busy road. We had a good meal in Woolacombe at The Boardwalk.
Total time (including stops) around 4.5 hours. Length of walk: 11.7km Ascent on walk 745m
The South West Coast Path is the longest of the official UK National Trails, running from Minehead in Somerset round the English south west peninsula coast to Poole in Dorset. The total length is just over 1000 kilometres or, more precisely, 630 miles. Only very dedicated walkers could contemplate completing the whole walk in one go, although plenty of people have done just this. Received opinion is that it would take around 6 weeks, even for the most dedicated.
